OOAK Art Gallery and Maples present Alan Stockard, Thursday August 10, 2017 from 7:00 to 9:00 in the Gallery. Cost for the concert is $5.00.
Alan Stockard is an American singer-songwriter who grew up near the foothills of Appalachian Mountains in Madison County, Kentucky.
His musical influences range from country and folk (Steve Earle, Willie Nelson, Townes van Zandt and Lucinda Williams) to rock (John Mellencamp, U2 and INXS) and the great songwriters like Roy Orbison, Kris Kristofferson and Brian Wilson.
He has recorded at Chase Park Transduction in Athens, Yaniv Studios in Los Angeles and Hilton Head Audioworks and has worked with and collaborated with artists such as Tim Stafford, Mac Leaphart and Arum Rae.
Stockard draws on the experiences of others as well as his own to shape story songs of the everyman and the underdogs. In addition to being an artist, Stockard is a decorated veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He has resided in South Carolina for the last ten years and is a fixture of the music scene in the Low Country.
The Micaville Music Concert Series is proud to be a part of the Blue Ridge Music Trails of North Carolina.
Micaville is located 4 miles east of Burnsville, 14 miles north of BRP milepost 344 at the intersection of Hwy 80 S and Micaville Loop on the Mt Mitchell Scenic Byway. Parking is available in front of the church, across the street in the empty lot and in the old Taylor Togs parking lot.
